Join us as we explore art across cultures, times, and mediums with a behind-the-scenes look at Museum exhibitions and projects and a carefully curated selection of musical talent from across the globe.
Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served from 5:30 to 6 pm and resume after the conversation or concert until 7:30 pm. Conversations and Concerts for Patrons are open to The Champion’s Circle and above. Please show your Patron card, which admits two, at the Patrons Lounge.

Cellist, Khari Joyner and Pianist, Llewellyn Sanchez-Werner
Two of the leading classical musicians of their generation, Khari Joyner, cellist and Sphinx Competition Winner, and Llewellyn Sanchez-Werner (YoungArts 2015), pianist and first prize winner of the 2022 Concert Artists Guild International Competition, perform together in this opening concert of the 2023 series.

Hear from Daniel H. Weiss, President and CEO, on his new book, “Why the Museum Matters,” a reflection on the universal art museum, considering the values critical to its history and anticipating its evolving place in our cultural future. Complimentary book copies will be available for signing.

Mood of the North
In conjunction with the special exhibition, Beyond the Light: Identity and Place in Nineteenth-Century Danish Art, the celebrated string quartet, American Contemporary Music Ensemble, will perform new works by Danish composers Josefine Opsahl, Ejnar Kanding, and My Beautiful Decay 1973 that interpret the drawings and prints from the exhibition.

The New Asia Chamber Music Society
Taiwanese-born violist and erhu player Wei-Yang Andy Lin is one of the most important performers specializing in both western and eastern instruments. In celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Lin will be joined by members of the New Asia Chamber Music Society and the chamber ensemble Interwoven.

Join Abraham Thomas, the first Daniel Brodsky Curator of Modern Architecture, Design, and Decorative Arts in the Department of Modern and Contemporary Art, as he discusses the work of the 20th century architect, Paul Rudolph, whose wide-ranging projects spanned from intimate domestic scales to sprawling civic structures.
